My clients, students, and friends ... asked me many questions about the makeup / skin care products ... one day I realized that I should write it down, so I can share with you my experience, probably not the most important , But the key is to help you have a better understanding on what is " Art of Makeup ".
FAQ from my clients, students , friends & models....
Q1 : When I visit the cosmetic counter, I always wondering Why I'm not able to do the same kind of effect even I bought the similar product home?
Ans : The
basic technique on how to apply the product is very crucial. Are you using the proper tools? This product is it really suitable to your skin type / color tone?
Q2 : How to do a simple make up & no need to buy so many cosmetic products ?
Ans : Can I tell you the truth? Oh dear, come to my workshop & teach you how to do a
simple & natural makeup .
Q3 : I got so many cosmetic products at home, different brand, different color but seem like not using it at all...
Ans : Oh yes, this is very common.. when you visit the cosmetic counter, you sure will have a reason. But when you go back home with a big bag of cosmetic / beauty products then you realized that " OMG , do I really need this? Oh this one seem like same as that one, in term of
function or color wise... " The reason is YOU must know how to do a basic make up , understand the technique then you will know what u really need or how to use it properly....end of you will found that you actually spending a lot of $$ but not use it wisely.
Q4 : I actually not aware of it until I saw some of my photos or my friends told me... M'I wearing a mask as I think my foundation is too thick , I thought this can cover all my dark circles... spots and....etc.
Ans : Sometimes we really over doing it as once you apply your foundation ,when you look at the mirror and still seeing your problem areas ... then you intend to put one more layer or go & pick the thicker one... sometimes we do need to know what kind of foundation
which really suit you or just apply a little bit concealer will do. ( I mean proper color as sometimes people may pick too light or too dark ).
Q5 : I'm very lazy.. & don't want to apply anything on my face... but I noticed that I have a lot of spots or dark circles on my face recently... and seem like increasing.
Ans : Oh my dear... did you apply any sun block? Do you get enough sleep? Drink enough water? As we always say : " There will be no beauty woman if you are lazy." You need to understand a bit knowledge on how to do a basic skin care or watch out your diet... need to have enough rest otherwise 5 years or 10 years later... you will look at the mirror & asking yourself.. is it too late ? or even you will ask yourself .... since this is no good then let it be ... Then I will ask " is it the way how you
treat yourself? "
Q6 : How I can make my eyes not like "Panda" or " Red cat eye " but I don't want to put so many makeup up.
Ans : Of course first thing my answer is " Well, please
rest more, get enough sleep, don't spend whole day on your computer, did you really let your eyes rest ? Did you realize that your eye balls already operating like more than 18hrs ? " 2nd is do a bit massage around your eyes area.
Q7 : Why people prefer spending thousand & thousand of dollars on injection / laser ?
and why the actual daily diet or skin care / protection are so critical to us?
Ans :
' Natural' & " Healthy " inside & outside....
Q8 : why do you want to be a makeup artist / instructor?
Ans : I like color, creative & mix & match.. I like
teaching / sharing my knowledge on makeup with friends so that more & more people know how to get a gorgeous look with just a quick & easy steps.
Q9 : what is the different between yours vs others school / similar organization?
Ans : Well, I prefer to talk about what is the best area we have ...
comfortable environment, no time limitation, flexible schedule, small group teaching which you can really learn it & ask many questions as you like since we are focusing on small group & one on one teaching mode, so no pressure at all.
Q10 : What is your Goal?
Ans : Very simple, I love this word "
Being simple "... my goal is able to transfer my makeup knowledge to everyone.....
Q11 : Should I go to those beauty / cosmetic counter & learn makeup as I can use back the makeup consultation fee to buy their products.
Ans : Yes , of course you can but before that please ask yourself a question first... How many cosmetic or skin care products do you really have ? Do you really need it? Think about it twice and only go & buy it in next day if you feel like really need it... otherwise end up you will be buying more than what you think or over budget. Can you really control yourself when you see all the new products which you may think that those can replace your existing one? or just because of the small & small gift which they offered to you or may be you think that one day you will need it?
Q12 : Ruby, did you do any photo editing on your photos?
Ans : I prefer not to do any photo editing on model's face / bone structure as I love
original, and the way how they presented ...
Q13 : Are you very good at doing Makeup in any kind of style?
Ans : There is no definite, no perfect & I would say this is really a piece of Art... Keep on trying & learning new technique which can help me to further improve my skill. Reading magazine (no limitation on industry) , try to
observe others expertise's art work which I believe can help me to think & generate idea .... even on the road, sleeping, watching TV and having meal... I may suddenly pop up an idea ...
